I bought the Alnico 5 version for my Squire Strat to go in a HSS configuration. I wanted to have a bit more versatility with the guitar as it's my main gigging axe for covers covering modern top 40/classic rock. The pickup is great, surprisingly clear in normal humbucking mode and sounds quite close to a traditional Strat pickup with a bit more meat in Parallel. I also really like having both bobbins having adjustable pole pieces, I’ve been able to adjust them to get a more articulate sound and more accurate to a traditional Strat. Highly recommend these pickups and such a great price too.
